CFR President Richard Haass: “USMCA is NAFTA plus TPP plus a few tweaks.” Trump Advisors Misled Him

By Carole Hornsby Haynes, Ph.D. January 12, 2020

On December 19, 2019, the House of Representatives voted overwhelmingly (385 Yeas to 41 Nays) to approve and implement the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement Implementation Act (H.R. 5430), a regional integration and American sovereignty and freedom killing scheme.

Only 2 Republicans voted nay – Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) and Ted Yoho (R-Fla.) along with Independent Justin Amash (I-Mich.).

Nancy Pelosi began pushing for the bill’s passage after new Progressive measures were included and now is trying to take credit for the bill and its passage. Efforts to change it were ignored. Pelosi’s support should be enough to convince true Constitutional conservatives why this bill must be defeated.

Senator Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) told Politico, “It’s clearly moved way to the left, which is why you had a celebratory press conference by all the Democratic leadership in the House. … You have organized labor enthusiastically supporting this...When’s the last time they were enthusiastic about a free trade agreement?”

In an interview with Fox News even before the House Democrats announced the new changes to the USMCA, Toomey said, “this negotiated agreement has made more concessions to the Left, to the Democrats, to organized labor, than they’ve ever gotten on any other trade agreement.” He questioned why other items were in a free trade agreement, such as quotas.

The bill has passed out of the Senate Finance Committee and a vote is expected right away. Then it will be sent to President Trump’s desk for signing.

The USMCA, intended to replace NAFTA, represents the next globalist step toward the economic integration of the United States, Mexico, and Canada into an EU-style North American Union.A side by side comparison shows the new version of NAFTA is the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) with 57% of it copied from TPP.

President Trump is being lied to by his trusted advisors. Larry Kudlow, President Trump’s Chief Economic Advisor, assures Trump that Richard Lighthizer is the best negotiator they have and the USMCA is just what America needs.

Richard E. Lighthizer is the chief negotiator for both NAFTA and TPP and a member of the new world order Council on Foreign Relations (CFR).

Richard Haass, president of CFR, tweeted, “USMCA is NAFTA plus TPP plus a few tweaks.”

If Trump signs the USMCA it will become his legacy, overshadowing his numerous accomplishments.  He will be remembered as the U.S. President who gave America to globalists.

President was able to cancel TTP because it was a bill still pending in Congress. But once the USMCA is signed, we are stuck. It contains a six-year review with an 16-year sunset clause. However, trying to end the agreement will be tougher than England trying to exit the EU because control of the U.S. is the prize and globalists will go to any length to force the U.S. to remain in the USMCA. Many of the freedoms we’ve enjoyed as Americans will be lost. America will be forced into the U.N. Agenda 2030 with its controlling ‘Sustainable Development’ 17 Goals. There will be radical changes for Americans.

Celebrating the completion of the initial text of the USMCA on October 1, 2018 in the White House Rose Garden, President Trump said,

“It’s a much different deal. It’s a brand-new deal. It’s not NAFTA redone.”

This is contrary to what Canadian Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland remarked,

“This is a progressive trade agreement that will be profoundly beneficial for our economy, for Canadian families, and for the middle class.”

Recently President Trump tweeted this:

“America’s great USMCA Trade Bill is looking good. It will be the best and most important trade deal ever made by the USA. Good for everybody - Farmers, Manufacturers, Energy, Unions - tremendous support. Importantly, we will finally end our Country’s worst Trade Deal, NAFTA!”
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 10, 2019
This is in stark contrast to what Freeland said,
“When this agreement is enacted, NAFTA will not only be preserved, it will be updated, improved, and modernized for the 21st century.”

Republican members of the House of Representatives are trying to defend their yea votes by claiming they believe in free trade and the economic advantages of the USMCA.

The agreement is NOT about FREE TRADE, which really means the absence of government intervention.  The USMCA is loaded with government controls.

The claimed economic advantages are those on the United States International Trade Commission website (usitc.gov),

“...USMCA would raise U.S. real GDP by $68.2 billion (0.35 percent) and U.S. employment by 176,000 jobs (0.12 percent)…. U.S. imports from Canada and Mexico would increase by $19.1 billion (4.8 percent) and $12.4 billion (3.8 percent), respectively.”

Will we see results of USMCA similar to those of NAFTA.

We were promised that NAFTA would boost our trade in large numbers and add at least 177,000 new jobs Yet Robert E. Lighthizer stated in his remarks on a NAFTA renegotiation, Aug. 16, 2018 that after having had a trade surplus for years, we immediately went to a $15.8 billion deficit the first year which has increased every year since and we LOST at least 700,000 jobs.

Apparently most, if not all, Republican House members did not read the 2410 pages. Some said they had seen only a 14 page summary.

The sheer size of the agreement should set off alarm bells that the agreement is much more than “free trade.”

Here is what is the USMCA will do:

If socialist Democrats, the socialist government of Canada, and Mexican Marxist and Leninist politicians all support the USMCA, this is a red flag that American independence and national sovereignty are in danger.

Americans must stop this bill.  Make these calls to voice your opposition to USMCA.

President Trump: 202 456-1111 or 202-456-1414

Your Senators: 202 224-3121

Your Representatives: 202-225-3121

(Ask your rep. why he/she voted yes!)
