Why the Dems Loathe Betsy DeVos
By Carole Hornsby Haynes, Ph.D. | January 10, 2017   Education Views  (Original title: "Betsy DeVos: Public School Enemy #1)
The Senate confirmation hearings for Betsy DeVos, President-Elect Donald Trump's nomination for Secretary of Education, are scheduled to begin January 17.  Already the liberal hypocrites are doing what they do best –  character assassination of anyone not of their radical ilk.

However, conservatives have learned a lot over the past eight years about how these vultures use Saul Alinsky's rules for radicals, especially the twelfth rule (isolate the target).   We must be prepared to give not nary an inch ever again.

Well, first off, Dems are in a twit because DeVos wants to give  parents a choice in the education of their children, a privilege they deem to be reserved for elitists.  Naturally, the Obama daughters were much too royal to be exposed to the “Commonness” of Common Core curriculum or to dine on Michelle's peasant lunches.  So their Highnesses were sent with body guards to the very tony Sidwell Friends School.  Nor did Arne Duncan's children have to endure contact with the “masses” in schools for the “common man,” as we serfs were called in the Jacksonian Era.

Six of the 10 Senate Democrats on the committee that will consider confirmation of DeVos either attended private or parochial schools themselves or have children and grandchildren who are attending.

Now I wouldn't want to spread gossip, but rumor has it that Rhode Island’s Sheldon Whitehouse, who attended the elite St. Paul's private boarding school and sent his children to uppity private schools, was caught in a local town meeting questioning whether DeVos has ever been inside a public school.

If that is true, then how could she possibly head up the bloated Department of Ed and know the fine points of continuing the long traditions of control by the establishment of both parties?

This liberal attitude is racism of the highest order. These high falutin' oh-fficials want to deny school choice to others, especially those from economically less privileged neighborhoods.

But I digress.  These vultures -- uh -- critics of DeVos are so concerned that DeVos just might destroy government run schools to which everyone has a right!  Funny thing.  With liberals, everything is a right, not a privilege. Of course, all those “rights” must be paid by us serfs through laws created by pens and phones, in smoke-filled back room deals, and by justices who have become lapdogs to big-G elitists.

Democrats are simply in a dither over DeVos' lack of experience in running a large and complex bureaucracy.  They ignore -- or maybe are too clueless – to see the irony in Barack Hussein Obama, community organizer and lightweight thinker, taking command of the world's greatest nation with zero experience in running a large and complex bureaucracy.  But he's a real wonder boy on the golf course!

Mrs. DeVos is accused by Randi Weingarten, president of the radical teachers' union, National Education Association (NEA), of believing in traditional marriage and pouring “money into campaigns against marriage equality.”  Not sure how that affects a kid's academic learning.   Weingarten rants about whether DeVos' supposed disregard for inner city schools will harm “large numbers of black and brown students.”  So what have government schools done for the poor – other than wasting billions of taxpayer dollars in a government scheme of social engineering to gain control over the minds and behavior of American children?

What is the real concern about Betsy DeVos?  That she will destroy American public education with school choice?  Or is it that the all powerful teacher unions will face competition from DeVos in their tight-fisted control over the curriculum?  Are they worried she'll drain their swamp?  Or that, under DeVos, the states might get a backbone and take back their Constitutional right to control education without the interference of federal goons?
