Education Department Investigates Foreign Cash to American Universities, Ties to K-12 Textbooks

Foreign countries are targeting American education for the purpose of altering public opinion and foreign policies. Now that may be changing with the U.S. Department of Education’s (USDE) investigation into the receipt of secret foreign cash by universities.
At the top of the list are Georgetown University and Texas A&M with bankrolls of hundreds of millions of dollars from Qatar, a Middle-Eastern nation with suspected ties to international terrorist organizations.
The majority of the secret funding between 2011-2016 came from Qatar, England, Saudi Arabia, China, Canada, and Hong Kong. Qatar has given more than $1 billion and Saudia Arabia nearly $614 million to American universities since 2011.
Since the mid-1970s, there has been an ongoing infusion of billions of Arab petro-dollars into the infrastructure of American education to change public opinion toward Islam and to influence U.S. foreign policy, specifically toward Israel. The project began with colleges in the mid-1970s and then K-12 in the 1990s with Saudi Arabia providing the initial funding.
Almost all of the colleges which write K-12 textbooks on the Middle East received massive funding from Arab nations.
The Islamist revisionism in U.S. textbooks can be traced back to the Saudi money. Revisionism includes the use of incorrect facts, falsification of facts, deliberate omission of critical information, and the use of innuendo to plant seeds of bias and predisposition. Some of the more famous biased phrases found in K-12 textbooks are these.
• Jesus was a “Palestinian Jew” who grew up in Galilee amidst “militant Zealots.”
• While Islamic Arab warriors “rarely imposed their religion by force,” Christian monks “by contrast,” were busy converting “peoples of Central and Eastern Europe.”
• Israel is to blame for terrorist attacks by Palestinians because they were “angered over the loss of their territory.”
• When the Jewish state of Israel was born in 1948, the nation and its neighbors “went to war.”
• It was because of the “loss of their territory to Israel” that “militant Palestinians responded with a policy of terrorist attacks.”
• “The Quran permitted fair, defensive warfare as jihad, or ‘struggle in the way of God'” and this was how Muhammad and his successors expanded their territory.
The Higher Education Act of 1965 created the Title VI program that provides federal subsidies to university programs of Middle East Studies to pursue public outreach. Those centers are required to design lesson plans and seminars on the Middle East for American K-12 teachers. The federal government, which both subsidizes and approves these special courses, has been derelict in maintaining oversight of the program.
Georgetown was one of those universities that received Arab money while contracted with the federal government under Title VI to write curricula for K-12 textbooks on the Middle East. Since 2011, the university, which trains United States’ future diplomats at its Walsh School of Foreign Service, has received nearly $333,000,000 from Qatar and $6,000,000 from Saudi Arabia.
According to the USDE, between 2011 and 2016, American taxpayers gave 12 universities nearly $7.5 million for Title VI programs that included writing K-12 textbooks about the Middle East and Israel. During the same period, those 12 universities received $603 million tied to Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and other Muslim-majority countries. Consequently, Title VI has become a Trojan horse for Muslim influence over American K-12 education.
For 2019-2021, Title VI records show that the USDE has allocated nearly $7.5 million to 16 universities for Middle East studies and outreach. Of those universities, 12 recently have received money from Muslim nations in the Middle East with each gift far surpassing U.S. funding.
With anti-Semitic, anti-Christian, and pro-Islam biases in American education, it’s clear why American students are deeply hostile toward Christians and Israel. The foreign funding of American education must be stopped if we are to win the war on terror. The Title VI program that funds biased Islamic curricula with taxpayer money must be skuttled as well.
