Maoism: Reconciliation Memorial In Arlington National Cemetery Slated for Demolition

Carole Hornsby Haynes      August 18, 2023

Tyrannical Chinese dictator Mao Zedong systemically demolished all of traditional China with the “Four Olds”: Old Ideas, Old Culture, Old Customs, and Old Habits. Those who opposed this “agrarian Marxism” were punished, imprisoned, or murdered. A Cultural Revolution has engulfed America for years with the “long march through the institutions.” Although the underlying theory is Marxist, the strategies used to tear down America are those of Mao.

For decades Marxists spread propaganda to link only the South with slavery, even though the North was engaged in slavery.  It was easy now for race-based Marxists to target the South as being "systemically racist" which supposedly justified their violent destruction of numerous monuments and statues while discrediting Confederate leaders and the people.

Many Southerners caved to the Marxist propaganda about slavery being the cause of the Civil War and did not lift a finger to save their heritage.  With that battle won, the Marxists then targeted the Founding Fathers, their credibility, historic homes, and even churches they attended. Then came Columbus Day, renaming the Redskins and other football teams, streets, schools and military bases, etc., etc., etc.

Now the target is the Reconciliation Memorial in the Arlington National Cemetery. What is the rationale for removing a monument to the dead?  That’s barbaric! The answer?  This is our federal government implementing the strategy of Mao: destroy Old Ideas, Old Culture, Old Customs, and Old Habits.

It was President William McKinley who called for the construction of a Confederate Memorial so the brave could honor the brave.

“ . . . every soldier’s grave made during our unfortunate civil war is a tribute to American valor. . . And the time has now come . . . when in the spirit of fraternity we should share in the care of the graves of the Confederate soldiers . . . The cordial feeling now happily existing between the North and South prompts this gracious act and if it needed further justification it is found in the gallant loyalty to the Union and the flag so conspicuously shown in this year just passed by the sons and grandsons of those heroic dead.”

McKinley was a decorated Union veteran who saw combat at Antietam and in the Shenandoah Valley. During his presidential campaign in 1896, he witnessed untended Confederate graves in the South, and it disturbed him. At the time, the federal government prohibited the decoration of Confederate graves at Arlington, as it had since the end of the Civil War. McKinley thought it was time for that to change.

While some may protest the Memorial because of the veterans it honors, this work of art is a national treasure. The healing that it originally brought to a nation still divided by a devastating Civil War should always remain the focal point of the purpose of this monument.

As the Marxist Democrat revolution pushes forward, House Republicans have once again failed to take legislative action – 41 turncoats, and the Reconciliation Memorial at Arlington National Cemetery is scheduled for demolition no later than January 1, 2024.

Retired Lt. Col. Ed Kennedy, in a press release from Defend Arlington – a coalition of American citizens who oppose the destruction of the Reconciliation Memorial – noted,

“The extravagant spending on removing the Reconciliation Memorial at Arlington National Cemetery exemplifies the reckless nature of woke defense spending,” Kennedy stated, “While our junior personnel struggle to make ends meet, millions are being allocated to dismantle a memorial dedicated to veterans. I can hardly fathom that this is happening in America.”

On January 1, 2021, the Marxist disdain for American history became Department of Defense policy through an amendment to the Fiscal Year 2021 National Defense Authorization Act. Congress overrode Trump’s veto and the “Naming Commission” was created — tasked with providing a list of offending Confederate monuments to the Pentagon in advance of their scheduled demolition.

The Naming Commission and Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin have illegally slated the 109-year-old memorial for demolition. Austin's Order to remove or demolish the Reconciliation Memorial is illegal because the Memorial serves as the headstone for the monument’s famed sculptor/Confederate veteran along with three other veterans and two wives. Being a headstone puts it beyond the so called Naming Commission's mandate. The Memorial belongs to the American people and a recent Kaplan Strategies poll shows that 60% of them do not want to see this memorial removed.

The Army Historian called the Memorial a disguise for “white supremacy.” This is a common Marxist tactic to divert attention from their Neo-Socialist agenda.

Staffers in the U.S. House are currently working on the Military Appropriations Bill. They want to spend our tax money to destroy our culture. We must stop this by inserting language in the underlying Bill to prevent the Army from spending any money on “cancel culture destruction,” especially removal of the Reconciliation Memorial.

When Americans rise up in large numbers, we can have a tsunami impact as we have had with Bud Light, Target, Disney.
