Trump Meets with Qatar’s Emir As Education Department Investigates University Funding,Terrorist Links

By Carole Hornsby Haynes, Ph.D. July 10, 2019

Even as President Trump hosted a July 9th visit from the Emir of Qatar to discuss economic and security ties along with counter terrorism issues, the U.S. Department of Education (USDE) was investigating the country’s ties with two American universities. Qatar is a Shari’ah-law monarchy with ties to terrorism and anti-Semitism.

The universities of Georgetown and Texas A&M are being questioned about their efforts to ensure that the hundreds of millions of dollars they accepted from Qatar are not connected to terrorism. These universities received gifts and contracts from various Qatari entities which are either owned by the government or closely connected to the Qatar royal family. Qatar sends most of its donations to American universities through the Qatar Foundation, an arm of the Qatari government founded and led by top Qatari officials.

A&M is one of six American universities with branch campuses in Qatar which receive a cumulative of $405 million from the Qatar Foundation. The other universities are Virginia Commonwealth, Cornell, Carnegie Mellon, Northwestern, and Georgetown.

To influence academic thought, Qatar poured nearly $1.5 billion ($1,478,676,069) into U.S. universities through monetary gifts and contracts from 2012-2018.

Seeking to influence foreign policy, Qatar has given $350 million since 2012 to Georgetown University which trains many future U.S. diplomatic corps. Arab funding went to Georgetown during the time it was tasked by the U.S. government to write content about the Arab world for K-12 textbooks. Professors who write the content for the textbooks are evidently deeply influenced by the Arab funding. Textbooks present anti-Semitic, pro-Islam views. Very little content – and then only negative – is included about Christianity and Judaism.

Qatar also gives money to other universities in the USDE’s 14 Middle East National Resource Centers program which provides guidance on curriculum materials and teacher training for K-12 Middle East studies. Through its American subsidiary, Qatar Foundation International (QFI), the Qatar Foundation has given $111,000 to Duke University to provide U.S. teachers with anti-Israel training. A private copy of the training agenda shows an extreme bias favoring Islam and Shari’ah law and opposing Israel. During the June immersion program, “Dimension of the Middle East,” for grades 6-12, there were no lectures and panel discussions dedicated to appreciating the Jewish or Christian faiths, although these two religions have been prominent in the Middle East for two thousand years.

Before being hand selected by QFI, candidates for the all-expenses-paid immersion program had to commit to creating a Middle East curriculum based on the content provided at the Duke meeting. The 40 teachers were coached on how to frame their message about the history of the Middle East.

A&M has received $274 million from Qatar since2012. Judicial Watch and Zachor Legaly Institute recently launched an investigation into Qatar’s influence at the university. The Qatar Foundation interceded to hide information about the $274 million. Although bound by public records laws, the university notified Qatar about the request for information about funders rather than fulfilling the request. Qatar hired a law firm to sue the Texas attorney general to prevent him from forcing A&M to disclosethe financial details of its contract.

In addition to funding universities, Qatari meddles directly in public education. The Qatar Foundation, through QFI, has donated more than $30 million to public schools, including Texas, Oregon, and Arizona for Arabic language education with teacher training programs, cultural events, and curriculum development.

Qatar is an ally of Hamas and one of the largest supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood. Hamas, the Palestinian branch of the Muslim Brotherhood, was designated as a foreign terrorist organization by the United States in 1997 yet is still allowed to operate in the U.S.

In April 2019, the Trump administration announced plans to designate the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization.

The Muslim Brotherhood has a secret front organization within the United States, the International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT). As far back as 1988, an FBI informant within the IIIT warned that the organization had a six phase goal to “institute the Islamic Revolution in the United States.” The informant reported that the first phase was to “peacefully get inside the United States government and also American universities” and that the “ultimate goal of the Islamic Revolution is the overthrow of all non-Islamic Governments.”

Footage from the documentary, “Jihad in America: The Grand Deception,” shows IIIT’s Director of Academic Outreach from 1984-1994 Sayyid Syeed saying, “Our job is to change the Constitution of America.”

Civilizational Suicide

America is committing civilizational suicide. We are allowing Qatari to buy direct access to the hearts and minds of the next generation of Americans who will not possess the Judeo-Christian principles upon which our Constitutional Republic was founded. Qatari money is shaping policy and planning and dictating which behaviors and beliefs will be tolerated. President Trump and the USDE must end all funding to American education from Qatari and all of its related entities.
