Resisting national standards, federal pressure, and outside influences, Texas historically has exercised its Constitutional right to determine what Texas students will learn. The State Board of Education (SBOE) has had control over the content suitability of both instructional materials and open education resources.
With the legislature’s passage of Senate Bill 6 in 2011, control over content was stripped from the SBOE. Open to the whims of unelected and unaccountable publishers heavily influenced by national teachers’ unions, academic content was fused with Common Core, social justice, LGBT, Critical Race Theory, and wokeism.

In recent years, America’s positive views about capitalism have declined and socialism have increased. The shift is especially pronounced among younger voters. A 2021 Gallup poll found that just 47% of American youth, aged 18 to 34, favored capitalism, down nearly 20 points from 10 years earlier. By 2025 support had plunged still further with only 39% favoring capitalism, according to the Harvard Youth Poll.

The American flag waves proudly across America as we celebrate the July 4, 1776 signing of the Declaration of Independence of the 13 American colonies from Great Britain. The document listed 27 reasons why the colonists declared independence.
Those who know unrevised Southern history will see parallels in secession from England, secession of the South from the United States, and the current secession movement among red and blue states.
