Texas Takes Action Against Students and “Educators” Who Mobilize for Revolution

By Carole Hornsby Haynes        February 4, 2026

On January 30, Texas students joined thousands of other government brainwashed students, often encouraged by educators, in a national demonstration against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Students from 14 campuses of Austin Independent School District (AISD) and multiple Tarrant County-area campuses participated in the walk out.  On Monday, students in Central Texas schools staged another walk out.

Texas leadership was swift to take action. Putting public educators on notice that taxpayers money is for educating, not encouraging students to participate in a revolution, Governor Greg Abbott directed the Texas Education Agency (TEA) to investigate. Later he posted: “AISD gets taxpayer dollars to teach the subjects required by the state, not to help students skip school to protest. Our schools are for educating our children, not political indoctrination. This is one of many reasons why AISD is losing so many students.”

Defending the district’s actions, Austin ISD Superintendent Matias Segura said school staff cannot physically prevent students from leaving campus so school officers went wth the students for their safety. “During the school day, our students are our responsibility and we’re committed to the safety of our students in our community, regardless if they are on our campus….That is why our administrators and Austin ISD Police remain with our students during protest activities during school hours.”

This is irrational!  Since when did educators begin to accompany students who decide to leave campus during class?

State Attorney General Ken Paxton is investigating school internal communications, records of public funds, and potential legal implications. He accused school officials of encouraging student participation in radical left activities. “These AISD officials are trying to impose their radical political agenda on the next generation by not only allowing them to skip class to protest lawful immigration enforcement activities, but worse yet—use tax dollars to do so.”

On Tuesday, the TEA sent out an announcement about the consequences of “inappropriate political activism deliberately disrupting the learning environment in Texas,” which will apply to all Texas public schools:

  1. Students must be marked as absent and schools risk losing daily attendance funding if they allow or encourage students to walk out of class.

  2. Teachers that facilitate walk outs will be subject to investigation and sanction including licensure revocation.

  3. School systems that facilitate walkouts will be subject to investigation and sanction, including either the appointment of a monitor, conservator or board of managers.

There will be outrage, hysteria, handwringing and dire threats by the left.  Yet only with the potential loss of school funding, loss of teacher licenses, and even a state takeover for those districts that prioritize political activism over education, will public schools consider abandoning their far left agenda and returning to their stated purposed for existence.  And given the real purpose for public education, that is not likely.  Educators will simply be more subtle and clever with the indoctrination of students and consider with their mission.

Texas is taking the national leadership role in stopping the mobilization of students for open borders activism designed to undermine our national sovereignty and our Christian civilization. Faced with widespread parental backlash against educators encouraging and participating in a revolution against the United States, other states may soon join Texas.
